Sears April Comparable Sales Increase 1.3 Percent
Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S) announced total domestic store revenues for the four weeks ending May 5, 2001 were $2.22 billion. Comparable domestic store revenues increased 1.3 percent. Total domestic store revenues increased 1.7 percent compared to $2.19 billion for the four weeks ending May 6, 2000.
"While the overall retail environment continues to be challenging, our specialty formats performed well this month. Sears Automotive, Hardware and Dealer stores showed strong increases, while The Great Indoors achieved a solid increase," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alan J. Lacy. "In the Full-line stores, double-digit increases in lawn and garden, and solid increases in appliances, footwear and sporting goods were offset by decreases across other categories."
