Media Advisory: Response To Blood Drive At Sears Headquarters On September 17 Overwhelming; All Beds Reserved
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- Response to the blood drive scheduled at Sears headquarters in Hoffman Estates on Monday, September 17, has been overwhelming. All available spots have been filled. We politely request that you not include the Sears blood drive in stories encouraging the public to donate blood.
Because of the overwhelming number of volunteer donors throughout the nation, Sears also has postponed efforts to coordinate in-store blood drives. This later scheduling will enable the American Red Cross and other agencies to sustain their efforts over a longer period of time to meet ongoing needs. Sears will issue local announcements as in-store blood drives are coordinated. Separately, Sears continues to accept customer and employee donations at all Sears full-line stores, Sears Hardware stores, Orchard Supply Hardware stores, Sears Dealer stores, Sears Outlet stores, The Great Indoors, and other Sears facilities nationwide and Puerto Rico. Customers are making contributions at Sears cash registers with cash, Sears Gift Cards, checks or their Sears Card, and through .
In addition to giving a minimum of $1 million in immediate aid, Sears has donated generators and other merchandise to relief workers. The company and its employees will work closely with local agencies to determine other ways to help with relief efforts where needed.
